Who is behind this site
tablemountainhikes.com is run by Patrick Kühne, an independent travel publisher based in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, Germany. He builds and maintains a small portfolio of guides to attraction tickets and day tours — including hoponcapetown.com and capetown-helicopter.com, the sister sites in Cape Town. There is no agency and no rotating editorial team behind this site: the pages are researched, written and kept up to date by one person — the same one who answers the e-mails.
What this site does
Table Mountain can be climbed by several very different routes — the direct Platteklip Gorge, the India Venster scramble, Skeleton Gorge from Kirstenbosch, Kasteelspoort on the Atlantic side — and Lion’s Head next door is its own short, steep summit. The guided hikes differ in route, time of day and what they include, and the product names on booking platforms rarely make those differences obvious. The cable car is the best example: on the hikes listed here the descent ticket is not included, even where a title suggests it. We describe what actually separates the options and show live prices so the choice can be made in one place. We are not a booking agent: every reservation happens on GetYourGuide.
